The government-run Ambedkar University in Delhi has adopted three villages near the national capital, where it will hold legal aid clinics, medical camps, and other community events, the university said on Tuesday. As part of its attempts to reach out to the greater Delhi community, the university has formed an Outreach and Extension Division.

The university's vice-chancellor, Professor Anu Singh Lather, stated that the university has adopted three villages: Jawahar Camp, Chuna Bhatti, and 5/35 Kriti Nagar.

On the occasion of International Women's Day, the university organised a programme at the Jawahar Camp slum cluster in which faculty members talked with women and children to better understand their difficulties and challenges. Professor Lather informed the women that the university will organise legal awareness camps and legal help clinics. In addition, the institution will organise medical camps in neighbourhoods to assist youngsters and the elderly. The institution wants to launch a 'Academics on Wheels' campaign to bring the classroom to the community, which will include Constitution seminars, digital literacy activities, and entrepreneurship classes, according to a release. The university also intends to develop a programme in which it would urge its students to volunteer as mentors to slum cluster students in order to assist them. Dr. Nitin Malik, registrar, stated that the institution will promote and support the activities and entrepreneurial ideas of Jawahar Camp women.
