Walmart Global Tech (WGT) has teamed up with the Indian Institute of Technology Madras (IITM) to speed up technological research. Walmart associates will be able to participate in continuing education and engage on CSR projects for their India operations under the terms of this agreement.
IIT Madras students and WGT associates will collaborate on research projects as part of this business cooperation, which will be handled by IIT Madras' Centre for Industrial Consultancy and Sponsored Research (IC&SR).
WGT will also utilise premises in the IIT Madras Research Park to collaborate with the IIT Madras Incubation Cell's start-up enterprises. WGT will be able to use the institute's short and long-term education and training programmes to upskill its staff.
Suresh Kumar, an IIT Madras alumni who is the Global Chief Technology Officer (CTO) and Chief Development Officer (CDO) of Walmart Inc, and Professor Mahesh Panchagnula, Dean Of Alumni and Corporate Relations, IIT Madras, signed the MoU in Chennai.
The event also featured Judith Ravin, the US Consul General in Chennai, as well as important Walmart executives and IIT Madras senior academic members.
