Overview

There are almost 400 initiatives in West Bengal that provide care services, social aid, and jobs within an umbrella platform called Jai Bangla. The IBRD financing will assist the state in developing the competence for the Inclusive Social Protection Project, which targets vulnerable groups like as women, tribal and scheduled caste households, and those living in disaster-prone coastal areas. The initiative will also fund the creation of a teleconsultation network for social care services, as well as a cadre of case management employees who can give eldercare counselling and connect houses to health services and facilities. The project would also provide an institutional framework to increase the efficacy and coordination of government initiatives focused at expanding women's labour-force participation of the state. The initiative will also aim to improve the state government's ability to provide targeted services and social support to the state's impoverished and vulnerable communities.

The IBRD's primary goal in 1944 was to finance the reconstruction of European countries devastated by World War II. Because the IBRD and the International Development Association (IDA) have the same leadership and employees, they are referred to collectively as the World Bank.
