Description

Overview

The purpose of this project is to teach OSC (One-Stop Center) officials how to handle situations of women entering the OSC, particularly those who have experienced abuse and distress, with care and understanding. The One Stop Centres performed admirably during the COVID time. Currently, the country has 700 OSCs in operationEmployees in these OSCs will also be trained to run the Self Defense Shaheed Women Helpline. At the one-stop centre, women may seek aid with medical, legal, and criminal matters. The training curriculum will also be available in all regional languages, making it easier to understand. NIMHANS has also built a website with a lot of information regarding the training.

Concerning the project

The project, as defined by NIMHANS, would be delivered in two formats based on the estimated needs of the Ministry of Women and Child Development. All OSC functionaries, including security guards, chefs, assistants, caseworkers, counsellors, centre administrators, paramedical personnel, and others, will undergo basic training in one format.

The advanced course will be emphasised in the second format, with an emphasis on various components such as multigenerational implications and lifetime trauma in cases of violence against women; guiding principles and challenges in managing trauma in cases of sexual violence; assessment of mental distress, disorders, and suicidal tendency; and ethical and professional principles in counselling.

About One-Stop Shops

The Ministry of Women and Child Development runs the One Stop Centre programme. These centres will assist women who have been victims of domestic, neighbourhood, or occupational violence. Women who are victims of sexual, physical, psychological, emotional, or economic abuse shall be assisted in seeking restitution and receiving assistance, regardless of their age, class, caste, educational level, marital status, race, or culture. Women who have come out to the OSCs after experiencing sexual assault, attempted sexual harassment, trafficking, domestic violence, acid assaults, honor-related crimes, or witch-hunting will be offered with specific assistance.
