At the interim session of its 60th Convocation, the Indian Institute of Technology Bombay (IIT Bombay) conferred degrees to 261 students. Since the lockdown two years ago, the interim session at IIT Bombay was the first event organised in the physical presence of degree recipients, guests, and invitees.
284 degrees were conferred during the interim session of IIT Bombay's 60th convocation, including 189 PhDs and 20 Dual Degrees [10 (Mtech + PhD) and 10 (MSc + PhD)] to 209 students. A total of 95 degrees were conferred to 68 students, comprising 29 BTech, two BDes, one BS, ten MTech, two MDes, two MPhil, six MSc, five MS by Research, seven PGDIIT, six DD (BTech + MTech), and five (E-MBA), according to an institute statement.
The degrees were awarded to students who fulfilled all criteria between August 2021 and January 2022 and requested that their degree be awarded before the 60th Convocation.
As the Chief Guest, Padma Bhushan awardee Dr Krishna M Ella, Chairman and Managing Director of Bharat Biotech and inventor of Covaxin presided over the function, which was also attended by Dr Pawan Goenka, Chairman of the Board of Governors, IIT Bombay, and Professor Subhasis Chaudhuri, Director, IIT Bombay, among others.
