On Monday, February 21, the Supreme Court is expected to hear a petition seeking a deferral or alternative assessment for the board examination 2022. The students have petitioned the Supreme Court to intervene in the upcoming board exams held by the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE), Indian Certificate of Secondary Education (ICSE), National Institute of Open Schooling (NIOS), and other state boards.
The petition, submitted by students in grades 10 and 12, from over 15 states, requested an alternate evaluation system for the forthcoming board examinations. Last year, CBSE, CISCE, and other state boards chose to evaluate students using alternative evaluation standards, and students were assessed using internal tests and a formula created by the board.
The dates for the class 10 and 12 term 2 examinations have been released by the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE). Term 2 examinations will begin on April 26. Meanwhile, the Council for Indian School Certificate Examinations (CISCE) would most likely hold the ICSE Class 10 and ISC Class 12 exams in the last week of April. The precise timetable, according to CISCE, will be announced soon.
