Description

Kottayam Pradeep, a popular Malayalam actor and comedian, died of a heart attack on February 17, 2022. He was 61 years old, the actor was hospitalised owing to discomfort and died as a result of a heart attack, his wife and two children survive him.

Kottayam Pradeep starred in various Malayalam and Tamil films over his two-decade acting career and garnered a lot of accolades for adding comedy to the films. The actor's untimely death has sent shockwaves through the Malayalam cinema industry. Fellow actor Prithviraj Sukumaran confirmed the actor's death and expressed his condolences on Twitter, writing, "Rest in peace, Kottayam Pradeep!"

At the age of 40, Kottayam Pradeep began his cinematic career in 2001 with the IV Sasi film 'Ee Nadu Enale Vare.'

 During his two-decade acting career, he appeared in over 70 films, with the majority of his parts being comedic.

 He began his career in the film business as a junior artist, mostly in uncredited and non-speaking roles.

He featured as a bystander in crowd sequences in various films at the time, including Rajamanikyam and 2 Harihar Nagar.

He made his breakthrough in Gautham Vasudev Menon's popular film 'Vinnaithaandi Varuvaayaa,' playing the uncle of star Trisha Krishnan's character.

Oru Vadakkan Selfie, Life of Josutty, Amar Akbar Antony, Thattathin Marayathu, Welcome to Central Jail, Life of Josutty, Kattappanayile Rithwik Roshan, Kunjiramayanam, Adi Kapyare Kootamani, and Aadu Oru Bheegara Jeevi Aanu are some of his finest works.

 He was well-known for his unique way of portraying conversation. He primarily appeared in comedic, supporting, and cameo roles. He was commonly referred to as Kottayam Pradeep.  In 2016, he was named Best Supporting Actor for a variety of roles at the 2nd Asianet Comedy Awards.  His final on-screen performance will be in the forthcoming film Aaraattu, directed by B. Unnikrishnan and starring Mohanlal.
