Description

A new Skill and Entrepreneurship Development University is being developed in the Kalyana-Karnataka area, according to Transport Minister B Sriramulu.

Important Facts

The Skill Development University is being planned for the region's inclusive development.

This university will be established because new technology must be used in all industries and there is a need for result-oriented initiatives in underserved areas.

Skill development universities are critical in the region for equipping the next generation and young with cutting-edge skills.

Reservation on an 8% seat

According to the minister, there is a standard of reserving 8% of seats in recruiting and education institutions throughout Karnataka for applicants from the Kalyana-Karnataka area. However, this standard is not strictly adhered to. As a result, the government will take efforts to severely enforce it. Officials have been given one month to provide information about empty positions and workers who are eligible for advancement under the region's special status.

Region of Kalyana-Karnataka

Previously, the Kalyana–Karnataka Region was known as the Hyderabad–Karnataka Region. This region is in Karnataka, which was part of the Hyderabad Kingdom governed by the Nizams and British India's Madras presidency. It included the areas of Bidar, Raichur, Yadgir, Kalaburagi, and Koppal in the state of Hyderabad, as well as Bellary and Vijayanagara in the Madras province, which are now in the state of Karnataka. This area is India's second largest arid region. Kalaburagi is the region's largest city. When Hyderabad State was formally amalgamated into India in 1948, some of its territory was absorbed into the State of Karnataka. In 2019, the Hyderabad-Karnataka region was officially renamed Kalyana-Karnataka.
