Officials said that schools throughout Bihar reopened for offline classes for standards 9 to 12 with full capacity on Monday, following a drop in COVID-19 cases in the state. Physical education classes have resumed in all state schools, with 50% attendance up to Class 8 and strict adherence to COVID-19 standard operational parameters given by the State Disaster Management Authority, they stated.
On Sunday, the Bihar government stated that schools, colleges, coaching institutes, and other educational institutions would reopen on Monday. Due to an increase of COVID-19 cases in Bihar, educational facilities have been shuttered since January 6.
On Monday, some schools in Patna experienced a low turnout of students, while others saw a high turnout of children. Teachers, on the other hand, stated that while student attendance in both private and public schools was low, they anticipated it to improve in the coming days.
"Children were very excited to go back to schools on Monday after being closed for almost a month owing to the coronavirus pandemic," Pradeep Mishra, director of Manava Bharati International School in Patna, told PTI. The COVID-19 procedure is properly followed. All of the classrooms have been sanitised, and correct seating arrangements in each class have been arranged to ensure social distance. We also held orientation workshops to familiarise kids with COVID proper conduct."
Raghavendra Rai, a Class 9 student, expressed his delight at returning to school after such a lengthy absence and praised the school administration for making the necessary precautions to assure the students' safety.
