Captain Harpreet Chandi, a physiotherapist and Indian-origin British Sikh Army officer, made history by being the first woman of colour to solo travel to the South Pole. On January 3, 2022, Harpreet Chandi, popularly known as Polar Preet, revealed her success on her live blog at the end of Day 40.
Harpreet Chandi had to carry food, a large holding gear, and gasoline for 40 days on her unsupported trip. Captain Harpreet Chandi joined the Army Reserves when he was 19 years old and the regular army when he was 25 years old. She had never tented before in her life.

Harpreet Chandi, 32, completed her solo expedition to the South Pole on the 40th day after travelling 700 kilometres and facing temperatures of minus 50 degrees Celsius while hauling a sled with all of her supplies. On November 7, 2021, Chandi began her adventure. Chandi stated in her blog post proclaiming the achievement that the mission was always about so much more than her. She travelled to Chile before heading to Antarctica on her own.
Harpreet Chandi wrote in her audio blog that she made it to the South Pole, where it is snowing, and that it seems odd to be here. She went on to say that she has always wanted to inspire individuals to test their limits and believe in themselves without being branded as rebels.

Captain Harpreet Chandi of Indian descent began her training in the French Alps, where she received crevasse training. Chandi also hiked through Iceland's Langjökull Glacier and spent 27 days on Greenland's Icecap.
Harpreet Chandi used to pull a sled by dragging a large tyre behind her back while she lived in England. Chandi travelled alone to the South Pole, and her sole interaction with the outside world was with her support crew.

As a Clinical Training Officer for a Medical Regiment in the northwest of England, Captain Harpreet Chandi's major responsibility is to plan and validate the training for Army medics.
Chandi is now doing her Masters' Degree in Sports and Exercise Medicine in London.
