“This is for the information to all those candidates who have registered and paid the fees for the KVPY Aptitude test-2021. The KVPY Aptitude test will now be held on 9th January 2022,” a notification on the official website reads.
KVPY is a national-level fellowship programme initiated and funded by the Government of India's Department of Science and Technology and the KVPY exam is an aptitude test for fellowships and contingency grants for students in Class 11 to the first year of basic science courses such as BSc, BS, BStat, BMath, Integrated MSc, and Integrated MS. Top institutes in the country, such as the IISc and the Indian Institutes of Science Education and Research (IISERs), take the test into account for admission to BS and BS-MS dual degree programmes, respectively.
Candidates are chosen based on their performance in an aptitude test as well as an interview. The aptitude test results are used to create the first merit list, and these students are then invited for an interview. The selection process is screened by IISc-created groups or committees. The final merit is calculated using the results of both the aptitude test and the interview. Those chosen for the KVPY fellowship receive scholarships up to the pre-PhD level.
