The varsity is the state's second educational institution to launch an online service under the Centre for Modernising Government Initiative, following the Odisha University of Agriculture and Technology in Bhubaneswar. The service for students began on Wednesday under the Odisha Right to Public Service Act (ORTPSA), according to a university release. Vice-Chancellor Sanjib Mittal stated that students from the varsity's affiliated colleges who want to migrate would not have to come to the institute for the certificate because they could apply for it online.
The university has 222 colleges spread across 10 districts in western Odisha. Every year, approximately 25,000 students graduate from colleges. Many students who graduate enrol in other universities and apply for migration certificates. It will now be much easier for those students to obtain the migration certificate. To apply online, go to the Sambalpur University website and click on the 'Apply for Migration' menu, which will take you to the ORTPSA migration, according to an official. According to Registrar Nruparaj Sahu, students will be able to access more services online as the university focuses on increasing digitisation.
