Candidates must take the JEE Advanced 2021 exam and meet other eligibility requirements to be considered for these programmes. The IIST dual degree programme is a five-year or ten-semester programme. Students receive a BTech in Physics and a Master of Science or MTech in one of the following programmes if they complete the programme successfully:
1. Astronomy and Astrophysics Master's Degree
2. Solid State Physics Master's Degree
3. Earth System Science MTech
4. Optical Engineering MTech
"At the end of the sixth semester, students will be assigned to their postgraduate streams based on their preferences and academic achievement up to that point." During the sixth semester, students will be notified of the seat matrix, which will establish the minimum and maximum for each of the streams," according to the institute. It further stated that students who enrol in the dual degree programme will not be able to graduate with a BTech degree. The two BTech programmes each have 60 seats available, while the dual degree programme has 20 seats available. These seats are in addition to the EWS category's reserved seats.
