The Tripura government has instructed the state board of education to check the results of the 10th and 12th grades of TBSE and find out if there is any discrepancy. According to an earlier announcement, nearly 99% of students have passed the Madhyamika and High School (HS) exams. Due to student protests and inconsistencies found in the grading system, the Tripura Secondary Education Board (TBSE) decided to pass nearly all students who registered for the Madhyamik and Higher Secondary Education exams this year.
Position of TBSE President Bhavatosha Saha
According to the latest reports, TBSE President Bhavatosh Saha said, “Nearly all Madhyamik and senior high school candidates will be promoted. The decision was made after considering the results, taking into account student protests and other aspects. " We asked teachers from all eight districts to double-check their grades. Several discrepancies were found during this exercise. "
Two weeks ago, 80.62% of students reported passing the Madhyamika (Grade 10) exam, while the higher average score was 95.20%. The results of secondary and higher secondary education were announced by TBSE based on an assessment process prescribed by a 10-member expert committee to assess students, as board exams could not be held this year due to the COVID-19 situation.
Evaluation Criteria Discrepancies
The assessment process took into account the results of students on the previous exam. An assessment report for each of the students was obtained from the respective schools. It was found that many students were unhappy with their academic performance, so the government asked the board to check the results to identify errors.
Repeated exams for the highest average practical exams will be held soon
In addition, many students were absent from the practical exams in high school. Their practice exams will be repeated from September 1st to 10th. The Board confirmed that anyone dissatisfied with their results will have to apply for a separate exam during August 23rd. Their exams will take place in September. The State Board of Education will administer performance improvement and equivalent exams for ITI graduates who can write their English papers and receive an equivalent high school diploma.
