Description

The Rajasthan government has decided to upgrade the state's 703 public elementary schools to the level of a senior elementary school. In a tweet from his official address, Chief Minister Ashok Ghehlot said the decision had been made to raise the level of 703 public primary schools to high school levels in line with budgetary provisions. He also said the move would make education accessible to students, especially girls in their immediate vicinity. In addition, the Rajasthan government will reopen schools, colleges and educational institutions from September 1, 2021. Educational institutions have been closed due to the lockdown due to the second wave of the COVID-19 pandemic this year.

Parental consent required for school attendance

Students wishing to attend offline classes will need parental consent. No student will be forced to attend offline classes. However, online classes will continue for students who do not want to take regular classes. The notice says morning meetings are limited so far to maintain social distancing and other COVID-19 protocols. Students will only be admitted after being properly screened for COVID-19.

COVID-19 Recommendations

Schools will reopen at 50% utilization, and the state government has already issued SOPs for school reopening. The SOP requires all staff and teachers to be vaccinated with at least the first dose prior to school opening. Schools must adhere to the required COVID-19 protocol, which includes sanitation, mandatory masks, disinfection, etc.

Waiting for the government to reopen a school in Rajasthan has led to the formation of an expert committee. The committee has developed a Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) for schools to follow due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The group is formed by the government with the health and well-being of children in mind. The commission recently requested proposals from the district committee for the protection of children. The proposals were implemented in the development of the final COVID-19 SOP.
