Description

Schools in Odisha opened to Class IX students on Monday, August 16, 2021. Schools have been reopened in accordance with all COVID-19 protocols issued for the safety of students and staff. Following guidance from the Department of School and Mass Education, public and private schools have reopened to grade 9 students for academic studies in 2021-2022. Classes are held from 9 am and will last until 12:30 without a break or lunch break.

Reopening instructions

• Students and teachers attending classes are allowed to enter the premises after thermal scanning and hand disinfection. Masks are a must and social distancing must also be respected.

• According to the instructions provided, teaching will be conducted in four periods and students will be able to return home at 12:30.

• If a student or staff member is found to have a high fever or any other symptom of COVID-19, they will be sent to isolation and the local administration will also be advised to take the necessary steps.

• Students believe that physical classes are always better than online classes, where students can interact directly with teachers and get rid of all their doubts.

• Reports indicate that since 9th and 10th grades have different class schedules, it will not be difficult to maintain social distancing between students.

Opening of hostels

Students have been attending online classes since 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic. However, with the decline in COVID-19 cases, students are called back with 50 percent throughput and all protocols retained. Classes for students are conducted according to a hybrid model. The hostel is also open to Class IX students.

The Department of Education has already decided to implement the Council of Secondary Education Continuous and Comprehensive Assessment (CCE) system for students in Class IX and X. Students and parents were also asked to take this process seriously, as the exams will help the board publish results if a situation as difficult as it is now arises.

The Department of Education also planned to conduct our formative assessments and two summative assessments to be conducted by the class teacher or subject teachers by the second week of September, the first week of November, the second week of January, and the second week of March.
