On August 15, 2021, India will commemorate its 75th anniversary of independence. After 200 years of British rule, India gained independence on August 15, 1947. On August 15, 2021, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will launch grand celebrations from the Red Fort. All central ministries and departments involved will present projects and programs highlighting India's development, governance, progress and policy, and technological reforms.
For this year's 75th anniversary of independence, India will begin year-long celebrations in August 2021, which will include everything from the launch of a website with a Virtual Reality (VR) feature for the first time to the Indian Army hoisting the tallest National Flag in J&K. The theme of India’s 75th Independence Day celebrations is ‘Nation First, Always First’.
About Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav
The Government of India's Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav is a massive, countrywide celebration celebrating India's 75th year of independence from 200 years of British rule. The Mahotsav is a symbol of India's growth, governance, progress, and policy, as well as its technical reforms and economic identity. On March 12, 2021, 75 weeks before the 75th Independence Day, Prime Minister Narendra Modi set off the Padyatra (Freedom March) from Sabarmati Ashram in Ahmedabad while inaugurating the Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav.
Indian Army installs 100-ft tall Indian National Flag in J&K
On August 10, 2021, the Indian Army unveiled a 100-foot tall Indian National Flag in Gulmarg, Jammu & Kashmir. On August 15, 2021, the Armed Forces raised the flag to commemorate the country's 75th Independence Day. The ceremony was led by Army Commander Northern Command, Lt. Gen. Y K Joshi.
