Wrestler Ravi Kumar Dahiya advanced to the finals of the men's freestyle 57 kg event on August 4, 2021, ensuring India's fourth medal at the Tokyo Olympics 2020. Ravi Kumar advanced to the finals by defeating Kazakhstan's Nurislam Sanayev in the semi-finals at Makuhari Messe Hall A, Mat B. India is now certain to take home another medal. Ravi Kumar Dahiya is the first Indian wrestler to reach the finals since Sushil Kumar at the London Olympics in 2012. The championship game will take place on August 5th.

Ravi Dahiya had taken a 2-1 lead in the first period, putting pressure on Nurislam Sanayev, but the Kazakh player came back strongly and took a strong lead, and Ravi Kumar was down 2-9. Then, in an incredible comeback, Ravi Kumar pinned Nurislam Sanayev to advance to the finals, ensuring India's fourth medal. India has already been assured of a silver medal.
In the 57kg event, the fourth-seeded wrestler defeated Bulgaria's Georgi Valentinov Vangelov to advance to the semifinals. Deepak Punia had previously defeated China's Zushen Lin by a score of 6-3 to advance to the 86kg semifinals. He did, however, lose to David Taylor of the United States.
