Samsung has announced scholarships to 544 excellent students from the Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya schools who are eligible for admission to the Indian Institute of Technology and the National Institute of Technology. In a statement, the company announced that this year the Samsung Star Scholar program has awarded 150 scholarships to new candidates from JNV, of which 87 will start their studies at various IITs and 63 at NIS across the country.
Number of Renewed Undergraduate Scholarships
Along with this, the scholarships were extended for the next year for the existing 394 students. Students who have received the new scholarships include 139 second-year students, 171 third-year students, 82 fourth-year students, and two fifth-year students.
Fellowships are offered for up to 2 lakhs under the Samsung Star Scholar program, which covers the costs of tuition, examinations, hustle and bustle over an academic year, and will be renewed each year for up to five years to support the less privileged financially students from schools.
Partha Ghosh, Vice President and Head of Corporate Citizenship, Samsung India, speaking of the scholarship program, said that about 800 JNV students have benefited from the Star Scholar program, and as the program entered its sixth year, the company is pleased to have supported talented students.
Selection of students
The selection of freshmen students will be based on the All India Ranking in the main JEE exams, and the scholarship renewals will be based on the semester grade average or the cumulative grade average, which must be 5 or higher.
