Karnataka State Deputy Chief Minister CN Ashwath Narayan confirmed that colleges in Karnataka are not yet opening. This came when some media speculated that Karnataka College would open around July 19, 2021. According to media reports, he stated:

"The dates for the opening of the classes will be determined after consultation with all interested parties."

He also said that the government is currently focusing on vaccinating students over 18 years of age. Regarding the opening of colleges, the government has confirmed that nothing is definitive yet.

Earlier, the deputy chief minister also asked provosts of state universities to ensure that all students over 18 are vaccinated by July 7, 2021. This was done to reopen colleges and resume autonomous studies. However, there have been no updates on this yet. The Deputy CM also mentioned that the opening date is highly dependent on the success of this vaccination campaign.

To give momentum to the vaccination campaign and the reopening of colleges, the Karnataka government has also come up with a slogan. The slogan was "Marali College Ge" ("Back to colleges") as an attempt to motivate college students to return to college after vaccination.
