China plans to send its first men crewed mission to MARS in 2033. The MARS manned mission will be launched with regular follow-up flights. The mission will be launched with a long-term plan to build a permanently inhabited base at MARS and extract its resources.
This ambitious plan will intensify the race with the United States to get people into MARS. The plan was revealed after China landed a robotic rover on Mars in May 2021. This was China's first MARS mission.
China Manned Mission
China has planned manned launches to Mars in 2033, 2035, 2037, 2041, and so on. Before manned missions, China will send robots to Mars, which will explore possible locations to establish a base and create systems there for resource extraction. Resources will be extracted to study it properly for a manned mission.
Challenges to be faced
For human habitation on the planet, crews will have to be able to use MARS resources. For example, they must be prepared to extract any water from beneath the planet's surface, generate oxygen locally, and generate electricity there. China must also develop technology to transport a crew to Earth.
How will the spacecraft use energy?
To shorten the flight time to MARS, the spacecraft would have to use nuclear energy in the form of heat and electricity, in addition to traditional chemical fuels.
