According to Andhra Pradesh Education Minister Adimulapu Suresh, the International Bank for Reconstruction and Development (IBRD) has allocated Rs 1,860 crore for the SALT program.
SALT stands for “Supporting Andhra’s Learning Transformation”. This program was launched with the aim of improving learning outcomes, teaching practice and school management in basic education. This goal can be achieved by transforming public schools into dynamic and competitive educational institutions.
The main directions of the SALT program
In addition to improving basic education, etc., the Program aims to reform the curriculum, improve classroom performance, professional development of teachers and prepare students for global competitiveness by introducing English as a teaching medium in public educational institutions.
International Bank for Reconstruction and Development (IBRD)
IBRD is an international financial institution. It was founded in 1944. The headquarters are located in Washington, DC, USA. It is the lending arm of the World Bank Group. It offers loans to middle-income developing countries. It is the first of five member organizations of the World Bank Group. IBRD and the International Development Association (IDA) are collectively known as the World Bank because they share the same leadership and common staff.
