India and Bhutan had jointly launched the Tax Inspectors without Borders (TIWB) program on June 23, 2021. It is a joint initiative of the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) and the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD).
TIWB is committed to providing support to developing countries to help them strengthen their national tax administration by building audit capacity. It complements the efforts of the international community to strengthen cooperation on tax issues and contributes to domestic tax mobilization efforts.
The purpose of the TIWB
The TIWB program aims to strengthen tax administrations in developing countries by transferring technical know-how and skills to their tax auditors, and sharing common audit practices with them, and disseminating information products.
India-Bhutan TIWB
Bhutan launched this program and select India as its partner jurisdiction. India provided a tax expert for this program. This program will last for about 24 months. Through this program, India is working with UNDP and the TIWB secretariat to help Bhutan strengthen its tax administration.
The program focuses on the area of ??international taxation and transfer pricing. India has always supported capacity building in tax matters in developing countries. India, as a world leader, plays an important role in South-South cooperation in tax matters.
This program is another step forward in continuing India-Bhutan cooperation and India's active support for South-South cooperation.
