Recently, a UN body approved a multinational project called Committee on Coastal Earth Observation Satellite Observations, Applications, Services and Instruments (CEOS COAST).
The CEOS COAST Program is jointly run by ISRO and NOAA from the USA. This program aims to improve the accuracy of coastal data based on satellite and ground-based observations. It also aims to build trust and cooperation among scientists.
These pilot projects are leveraging Earth observation technologies to meet the 17 Sustainable Development Goals set by the United Nations as part of the Ocean Decade Initiative. The themes of these projects are disaster risk reduction and coastal resilience on the continental coast and small island states.
