The World Health Organization has warned about the delta variant, which is a significantly more transmitted COVID-19 strain, is expected to become the dominant line if current trends continue. The warming came after WHO reported it in 85 countries and continues to be found in many places around the world. WHO warned of this in its COVID-19 Weekly Epidemiological Update, which was released on June 22, 2021.
According to WHO, the Alpha variant was registered in 170 countries, the Beta variant in 119 countries, the Gamma variant in 71 countries, and the Delta variant in 85 countries.
Delta Variant problems
The delta variant has been registered in 85 countries around the world and continues to appear in new countries. 11 countries have reported this in the past two weeks. The Delta variant is significantly more transferable than the Alpha variant. As a result, it is expected to become the dominant line.
New COVID Cases in India
India reported the highest number of new COVID-19 cases between June 14 to 20, 2021, according to WHO. The cases were 30 percent fewer than last week. India has the largest number of new deaths, with 1.2 new deaths per 100,000 people. Mortality rates also fell by 31 percent over the same period. The South-East Asia Region reported about 600,000 new cases and 19,000 new deaths, indicating a downward trend. The decreasing trends in weekly morbidity and mortality in the region are associated with decreasing morbidity in India.
