G 20 Education Minister Summit 2021

The G20 Education Ministers met recently, where ministers reaffirmed their commitment to ensuring the continuity of quality education in the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. During the meeting, the Ministers reaffirmed their commitment to addressing inequalities in education and the workplace. Sanjay Dhotre, Minister of State for Education, represented India.
He reaffirmed India's commitment to reducing and ultimately eradicating educational poverty, inequality and early school dropout.
A meeting was organized in Italy where G20 education ministers shared views on “how to move forward in the fight against educational poverty and inequality” in the midst of the COVID 19 pandemic blended education models.
The Indian minister reaffirmed India's new education policy and several welfare programs aimed at tackling inequalities in education, especially for girls and socially and economically disadvantaged groups. He reaffirmed India's support for "the collective efforts of the G20 countries to reduce educational poverty and inequality."
About G20
The G20 is an intergovernmental forum of 19 countries and the European Union (EU). It addresses major issues related to the global economy such as international financial stability, sustainable development and climate change mitigation. The G20 is made up of most of the largest industrialized and developing countries in the world. It accounts for 90 percent of the gross world product (GWP), two-thirds of the world's population and half of the land area. Grouping was founded in 1999 to overcome the global economic crises.
