An experimental NASA Mars helicopter called Ingenuity made its 8th flight to the Red Planet. Ingenuity's last flight to Mars took place on June 21, 2021. During the flight, Ingenuity remained airborne for 77.4 seconds. It flew 525 feet and landed about 440 feet from the Perseverance rover.
Originally ingenuity was calculated to fly only five times. But its enduring successes have forced the agency to expand its mission and experiment with more ambitious flights.
What is ingenuity?
Ingenuity is a small robotic helicopter that operates on Mars as part of NASA's Mars 2020 mission. He successfully completed the first controlled flight of an aircraft on a planet other than Earth on April 19, 2021. As of June 22, it has successfully completed eight flights. The solar-powered coaxial rotorcraft is a demonstration of technologies and operations that will aid probe flights in future missions to Mars. Ingenuity was created by NASA's Jet Propulsion Laboratory (JPL). He went to Mars, attached to the bottom of the Perseverance rover.
Persistence all-terrain vehicle
It is a car-sized rover designed to explore the Jezero Crater on Mars as part of NASA's Mars 2020 mission. It was made by the Jet Propulsion Laboratory. The rover launched on July 30, 2020 and landed on Mars on February 18, 2021. As of June 2021, the rover has been active on Mars for 122 salts, or 125 Earth days, since it landed.
