Colombia is home to the world's largest variety of butterflies, according to a recent study. It accounts for 20% of all known species. An international team of scientists has classified 3,642 species and 2,085 subspecies.
They recorded this species in a document called the Colombian Butterfly Checklist. There are about 200 species of butterflies in Colombia. The project's researchers traveled extensively around Colombia and analyzed about 350,000 photographs.
