Education Minister Ranoj Pegu, Assam government on Friday canceled this year's class X and XII state board examinations due to the prevailing COVID-19 situation.
Union (AASU) and all Bodo Students' Union (ABSU) and officials of the Health and Education departments and other stakeholders including the All Assam Students' with a common thought took the decision. It was taken at a gathering chaired by the minister.
Ranoj Pegu commented that "The matric and better secondary examinations for 2021 are canceled because the positivity rate thanks to the prevailing COVID situation is yet to be brought in check.”.Two committees, one each for class X and XII, are going to be constituted on Saturday to suggest a formula for preparing the results.
Mr. Pegu further said "The results are going to be record-based and not subjective. They're going to be based on records available with the faculties and therefore the boards"
The reports of both the committees are going to be submitted every week and therefore the results of both matric and better secondary exams are going to be declared by July 31, 2021.
