Gujarat Chief Minister Vijay Rupani has launched the 2021 Agricultural Diversification Program electronically, which will benefit Wanbandhu farmers in tribal areas. He aims to make agriculture sustainable and profitable in tribal areas.
The program will benefit approximately 1.26 lakh farmers from 14 tribal districts in the state. Under this scheme, breeder farmers will be provided assistance in the form of fertilizer seeds in the number of Rs. 31 Crores. These farmers will be provided with about 45 kg of urea, 50 kg of NPK and 50 kg of ammonium sulfate. Under this scheme, seeds of crops such as corn, millet, tomatoes, bitter melon (karela), kalabash (dudhi), etc. will be provided.
What has the state government done to provide water?
The state government has also undertaken work to deliver water for irrigation at high altitudes through several elevator irrigation schemes in the hilly tribal areas. These schemes would allow tribal farmers to farm on their own.
