Prime Minister Modi congratulated the people of India on a record one-day vaccination on June 21, 2021. He expressed his joy that 80,000 people were vaccinated on June 21, and praised the COVID-19 warriors for their hard work. Prime Minister Modi said in a tweet that the record number of vaccinations is encouraging. The COVID-19 vaccine remains the most powerful weapon in the fight against COVID-19. He congratulated those vaccinated and praised all the warriors who worked hard to vaccinate so many citizens.
Cumulative vaccination coverage in India exceeded Rs 28.80 crore on June 21, 2021, after 80,000 COVID-19 vaccinations were administered in one day, according to the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare.
Current status of COVID-19 vaccination in India
According to data released by the Ministry of Health on the morning of June 21, 2021, a total of 28,00,36,898 doses of COVID-19 vaccine were administered in India over 38,24,408 sessions, including 30,39,996 doses on June 20. 2021
On January 16, 2021, Prime Minister Modi announced the world's largest vaccination campaign in the country with a plan to introduce approved COVID-19 vaccinations for medical and frontline workers. This phase was later expanded to include those aged 60 and over, then it was expanded to those aged 45 to 60, and eventually to those aged 18 and over.
At the time, only two approved COVID-19 vaccines were to be administered in India - Covishield and COVAXIN, however, in April 2021, the regulator also approved the Russian Sputnik V vaccine, making it the third vaccine to be administered in the country.

To make the process as simple as possible, the government opened online registrations and later on-site registrations for the COVID vaccine became available.
COVID-19 Free Vaccination Policy
In the latter case, the central government announced that free COVID-19 shots will now be administered to all individuals aged 18 and over at any government facility in accordance with the centralized free COVID-19 vaccination policy.
The provision of free vaccinations was previously limited to only those aged 45 and over, but at the request of state governments, the Center decided to purchase 75% of the COVID-19 vaccines and donate them to the states for free distribution to all persons aged 18 years or higher. Injections must be paid at private hospitals.
