The government of Odisha on June 18, 2021 issued modalities for publication of results of the annual higher secondary (Class XII) examinations, which were earlier cancelled because of COVID-19 pandemic.

The School and Mass Education said during a statement said that, The examinations of the Plus-II Arts, Science and Commerce alongside vocational courses were cancelled keeping in mind the health and questions of safety of the scholars and teachers.

On the premise of the recommendations of the committee and in sight of the cancellation of Annual HS Examinations, 2021, the CHSE will follow the norms for processing of results of the examination. Subsequently, an expert committee was constituted by the Council of higher secondary education (CHSE) in accordance with the instructions of the government to suggest well-defined objective criteria for alternative assessment of the examinees of annual higher secondary examination.

Scores are going to be awarded to the regular examinees within the theory components of papers on the idea of the performance of the examinee in the Class X Board examination. For this purpose, an in depth subject mapping has been prepared. The scores within the papers for ex-regular examinees are going to be awarded on the idea of their performance in the previous CHSE examination during which that they had appeared. Scores are going to be awarded within the practical/ project component of a paper both for normal and ex-regular examinees at their higher lyceum level.

The department said in a notification, the scores awarded at the HS School level are going to be scrutinized and moderated. An examinee not satisfied with the result declared on the basis of alternative Assessment Criteria, can prefer to appear for the examination in the off-line mode which can be conducted when things are going to be conducive, the results are going to be declared within the second week of August.
