The centralized COVID-19 free vaccination policy began on June 21, 2021, under which the central government will provide free coronavirus vaccines to all Indian citizens over the age of 18. The announcement of the policy of centralized free vaccination was made by Prime Minister Modi in a televised address to the nation.
He announced that the central government will take over the nationwide vaccination campaign, and from June 21 (International Yoga Day), the government will provide the state with free vaccines. In his address, Prime Minister Modi indicated that whether it is the poor, middle class, lower middle class or upper middle class, everyone will receive free vaccines through the program at government vaccination centers.
The central government will purchase 75% of the COVID-19 vaccines and donate them to state governments for free distribution to all citizens over 18. The government will also deal with 25 percent of the vaccinations that have so far taken place in the states in accordance with the previously announced liberalized plan.
