Microsoft Corporation has appointed Chief Executive Officer Satya Nadella as its new chairman. Nadella is going to replace John Thompson. Nadella replaced Steve Ballmer in 2014 as CEO of Microsoft. He has played a tool to take Redmond, the Washington DC business, and billion-dollar acquisitions such as Nuance Communications, LinkedIn, and ZeniMax to new heights.
A top-level leadership change came just a year later. Gates resigned from the Board. Gates said he will be more involved in charity work for the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation. Thompson, who was named chairman in 2014 to replace co-founder Gates, will now become the lead independent director. Further, Microsoft announced a quarterly dividend payment of 56 cents per share.
