International Level Transition Awareness Day (ILCAD)
Date - 11th Jun 2021
ILCAD is a worldwide initiative aimed at raising awareness of the safety of level crossings. This information campaign is being carried out by the world railway organization UIC. The day is being celebrated with enthusiasm following the successful first European Level Crossing Awareness Day, which was held on June 25, 2009 in 28 countries to raise public awareness of the dangers of misconduct at level crossings.
On June 10, 2021, South Central Railway (SCR) celebrated International Level Crossing Awareness Day. Information programs were carried out for the population at the exits to the railway crossing. On this occasion, the rail authorities began a phased dismantling operation of the level crossings, building limited height underpasses (LHS), Road under-bridge (RUB) and road over bridges (ROB) in the area.
About 81 serviced crossings have been removed through the construction of LHS, ROB and RUB in collaboration with state governments.
