1. Reading
Two unseen passages of total 350 words with a variety of questions including 4 marks for vocabulary. Only prose passages will be used. One will be factual and the other
will be discursive.
(i) Passage 1—100 words (6 Marks), six comprehension questions (2 Multiple Choice Questions, 2 Comprehension questions testing local and global understanding, 2 questions on vocabulary—one testing the knowledge of similar word and the other testing the knowledge of opposite word)
(ii) Passage 2—250 words (9 Marks), Nine Comprehension questions (3 Multiple Choice Questions, 4 Comprehension questions testing local and global understanding, 2 questions on vocabulary—one testing the knowledge of similar word and the other of opposite word)
2. Writing
(i) Letter Writing — One out of two (Word Limit 80)
(a) Personal — To friends, relatives and members of family.
(b) Official — To Govt. officials, The Editor of a newspaper or a magazine, Headmaster/Principal
(c) Email — To family, friends, relatives, Govt. officials, the editor, teachers, headmaster, principal and so on.
(ii) To write a short story on a given outline.
(iii) A short writing task based on a verbal or a visual stimulus (picture, chart, table etc.) with internal choice in about 60 words.
3. Grammar
A variety of short questions involving the use of particular structures within a context. Test types used will include– *gap-filling, *sentence-completion, *sentence-transformation (including combining sentences).
The Grammar syllabus will include the following areas for teaching—
1. Tense (Simple Present, Present Continuous, Present Perfect, Simple Past, Past Continuous, Past Perfect and Tense showing Future Action)
2. Reported Speech
3. Conjunctions (and, as well as, not only-but also, both-and, either-or, neither-nor, so-that, too-to, though, although, while, yet)
4. Relative Pronouns
5. Active and Passive Voice
6. Framing Questions and Question Tags
4. Textbooks :
(i) First Flight—Prose
(a) Two extracts from different prose lessons included in the textbook. Approximately 100 words each with the following type of questions— Six questions in each passage : 2 Multiple Choice Questions, 2 Comprehension questions testing local and global understanding, 2 questions on vocabulary—one testing the knowledge of similar word and the other of opposite word.
(b) One out of two questions extrapolative in nature based on any one of the prose lessons from the textbook to be answered in about 80 words.
(c) One out of two questions on Drama Text (local and global comprehension question) in about 20 words
(ii) First Flight—Poetry
(a) One out of two extracts—based on poetry from the text to test comprehension and appreciation.
(b) Two out of three short answer type questions on interpretations of themes and ideas contained in the poems to be answered in about 20 words each.
(iii) Footprints Without Feet—Supplementary Reader
(a) One out of two questions from Supplementary Reader to interpret, evaluate and analyse character, plot or situations occurring in the lessons to be answered in about 60 words.
(b) Two out of three short answer type questions on interpretating and evaluating nature based on lessons to be answered in 20 words each.
(c) Two Multiple Choice Type Questions used on factual aspects of the lessons.

Conditions of eligibility for admission to class X.
1. Candidates who have been studying in a School recognised by or affiliated to this Board or any other recognised Board of Secondary Education in India.
2. Candidates can not take admission directly in class X.
3. Candidates had completed a regular course of study for class IX and passed class IX examination from a school affilicated to this Board.
4. The candidates percentage for attendance should be 75% so that the Board to make him/her eligible for the Examinations.
5. Candidate can be admitted to a school only on the transfer of the parents(s) or shifting of their families from one place to another, after procuring from the student the marksheet and the Transfer Certificate duly counter signed by the Educational Authorities of the Board concerned.
6. There is no age limit for candidates taking the Examination.
7. Candidate should have doucments in support of his having passed the qualifying or equivalent qualifying examination.

1. This paper is consists of Three Sections. Section A, Section B and Section C.
2. Total 11 Questions is in this paper.
3. Section A - carries 20 marks and is based on Reading. There will be 2 questions in this section.
4. Question no.1 will be 08 Marks. Its relate to Unseen Passage of 200 words with four Comprehensive questions.
5. Question no.2 will be 12 Marks. Its relate to Unseen Passage of 300 words with six Comprehensive questions.
6. Section B - carries 30 marks and is based on Writing & Grammer. There will be 5 questions in this section.
7. Question no. 3 will be 08 marks and its relate to Letter Writing (One Letter either formal or Imformal in about 100 words).
8. Question no. 4 will be 08 marks and its relate to Paragraph Writing.
9. Question no. 5 is based on use in Non Finits, Sentence Connectors, Clause, Past Tense . It will be 06 marks.
10. Question numbers 6 and 7 carry 4 marks for Each question.Q.No.-6 based on use of mode and Q.No.-7 is based on Transformation.

13. Poetry:- In this Part Have 2 Questions 9 & 10. Question no. 9 is One extract from a Poem followed by four questions (4 Marks). Question no. 10 is Two out of Three Short type questions to be answered in 20-30 words (6 Marks).
14. Supplementary Reader:- In thisPart have 2 Sub Questions.-a).- One out of two questions to evaluate and analyse Character, Plot and Situation (8 Marks), b).- One Out of two Short Answer Type Questions (2 Marks).
