SECTION-A
Reading unseen Passages and Note-making
Two unseen passages with a variety of questions including for vocabulary such as word formation and inferring meaning and for note-making. The total length of the two passages will be between 950-1200 words. The passages will include two of the following:
(a) Factual Passages e.g. instructions, descriptions, reports.
(b) Discursive passage involving opinion e.g. argumentative, persuasive or interpretative text.
(c) Literary passage e.g. extract from fiction, drama, poetry, essay or biography

1. A passage to test reading comprehension. The passage can be literary, factual or discursive. The length of the passage should be between 600-700 words.
2. A shorter passage of 350-500 words for note-making and abstraction.
SECTION B
Advanced Writing Skills
3. One out of two short compositions of not more than 50 words 5 each e.g. advertisement and notices, designing or drafting posters, writing formal and informal invitations and replies.
4. A report or a factual description based on verbal input provided (one out of two) (100-125 words)
5. Writing one out of two letters based on verbal input.Letter types include: (a) business or official letters (for making enquiries, registering complaints, asking for and giving information, placing orders and sending replies): (b) letters to the editor (giving suggestions on an issue) (c) application for a job
6. One out of two compositions based on visual and/or verbal input 10 (150-200 words). Output may be descriptive or argumentative in nature such as an article, or a speech.

10. One out of two long answer type questions based on the text to test global comprehension and extrapolation beyond the set text. (Expected word limit about 125-150 words each)

Conditions of eligibility for admission to class XII
1. Candidates who have been studying in a School recognised by or affiliated to this Board or any other recognised Board of Secondary Education in India.
2. Candidates can not take admission directly in class XII.
3. Candidates had completed a regular course of study for class XI and passed class XI examination from a school affilicated to this Board.
4. The candidates percentage for attendance should be 75% so that the Board to make him/her eligible for the Examinations.
5. Candidate can be admitted to a school only on the transfer of the parents(s) or shifting of their families from one place to another, after procuring from the student the marksheet and the Transfer Certificate duly countersigned by the Educational Authorities of the Board Concerned.
6. There is no age limit for candidates taking the Examination.
7. Candidate should have doucments in support of his having passed the qualifying or equivalent qualifying examination.

Analysis
1. There were 3 sections in the question paper i.e. A, B and C and total 12 questions were asked.
2. Section A: 2 questions (20 marks)

There will be no overall choice in the paper. Candidates will be required to answer all questions. Internal choice will be available in one questions of 4 marks each, one questions of 5 marks each, one question of 7 marks each and all the four questions of 10 marks each.

1. The difficulty level of the English Paper 2020 : Easy to moderate
2. The pattern of the Class 12 English paper was similar to the latest Class 12 English Sample Paper 2020.
3. All the questions in the paper were asked from the latest syllabus and based on NCERT textbooks
4. The average range of expected marks was 70+ (out of 80)
