SECTION - A (Reading)
Reading unseen Passages for comprehension and Note-making
Two unseen passages with a variety of questions including 05 marks for vocabulary such as word formation and inferring meaning. The total length of both the passages together should be around 1100 words.
1. The passages could be any of the following two type:
2. (a) Factual Passages e.g. instructions, descriptions, reports.
(b) Discursive passage involving opinion e.g. argumentative, persuasive.
SECTION B (Writing)
1. One out of two tasks such as a factual description of any event or incident, a report or a process based on verbal input provided (80-100 words).
2. One out of two compositions based on a visual and/or verbal input 08 (in about 100-150 words). The output may be descriptive or argumentative in nature such as an article for publication in a newspaper or a school magazine or a speech.
3. Writing one out of two letters based on given input. Letter types include (a) business or official letters (for making enquiries, registering complaints, asking for and giving information, placing orders and sending replies); (b) letters to the editors (giving suggestions, opinions on an issue of public interest) or (c) application for a job.
SECTION C (Grammer)
Different grammatical structures in meaningful contexts will be tested. Item types will include gap-filling, sentence-reordering, dialogue-completion and sentence-transformation. The grammar syllabus will include the following areas:

8. Reordering of sentences
SECTION D (Textual Questions)
Questions on the prescribed textbooks will test comprehension at different levels: literal, inferential and evaluative based on the following prescribed text books:
a. Hornbill : Text book.
b. Snapshots : Supplementary
English Reader
1. One out of two extracts based on poetry from the text to test comprehension and appreciation.
2. Two out of three short answer questions from the poetry section to test local and global comprehension of text (upto 30 words).
3. Five out of six short answer questions on the lessons from prescribed text (upto 30 words)
4. One out of two long answer type questions based on the text to test global comprehension and extrapolation beyond the set text. (Expected word limit would be about 100-125 words each)
Supplementary Reader
1. One out of two long answer type questions based on Supplementary Reader to test comprehension of theme, character and incidents. (upto 100 words)
2. Two out of three short answer questions from the Supplementary Reader (upto 30 words)

Conditions of eligibility for admission to class XI.
1. Candidates who have been studying in a School recognised by or affiliated to this Board or any other recognised Board of Secondary Education in India.
2. Candidates can not take admission directly in class XI.
3. Candidates had completed a regular course of study for class X and passed class X examination from a school affilicated to this Board.
4. The candidates percentage for attendance should be 75% so that the Board to make him/her eligible for the Examinations.
5. Candidate can be admitted to a school only on the transfer of the parents(s) or shifting of their families from one place to another, after procuring from the student the marksheet and the Transfer Certificate duly countersigned by the Educational Authorities of the Board concerned.
6. There is no age limit for candidates taking the Examination
7. Candidate should have doucments in support of his having passed the qualifying or equivalent qualifying examination.

Analysis
1. There were 3 sections in the question paper i.e. A, B and C and total 12 questions were asked.
2. Section A: 2 questions (20 marks)
3. Section B: 4 questions (35 marks)
4. Section C: 6 questions (45 marks)
And
There will be no overall choice in the paper. Candidates will be required to answer all questions. Internal choice will be available in one questions of 4 marks each, one questions of 5 marks each, one question of 7 marks each and all the four questions of 10 marks each.
Comment
1. The difficulty level of the English Paper 2020 : Easy to moderate
2. The pattern of the Class 12 English paper was similar to the latest Class 12 English Sample Paper 2020.
3. All the questions in the paper were asked from the latest syllabus and based on NCERT textbooks
4. The average range of expected marks was 70+ (out of 80)
