The Council for the Indian School Certificate Examinations (CISCE) has officially released the date sheet for ICSE (Class 10) board examinations for 2025. This year class 10th board exam will be started from 18 February 2025 and will last upto 27 March 2025, it will take around 38 days to complete the class 10th board exam. The first exam will be held on 18 February 2025 for English subject and the last exam will be held on 27 March 2025 for Environmental Science subject. The Indian School Certificate Examination results will be declared in the month of May.

There will be one paper of two hours duration carrying 80 marks and an Internal Assessment of 20 marks.
The question paper will consist of Part I and Part II.
Part I (compulsory) will consist of two questions. Question 1 will consist of short answer questions from the entire syllabus and Question 2 will consist of a question based on World Map.
Part II. Candidates will be required to choose any five questions.
Candidates will be expected to make the fullest use of sketches, diagrams, graphs and charts in their answers.
Questions may require answers involving the interpretation of photographs of geographical interest.

(d) Preventive Measures
Carpools, promotion of public transport, no smoking zone, restricted use of fossil fuels, saving energy and encouragement of organic farming.

Location, area, climate, natural vegetation and human adaptation.

7. Map Work
On an outline map of the World, candidates will be required to locate, mark and name the following:

INTERNAL ASSESSMENT
PRACTICAL WORK/ PROJECT WORK
1. A record file having any three of the following exercises will be maintained. (The file will be evaluated out of 10 marks).
(a) Uses of important types of maps.
(b) Directions and how to identify them - an illustrative diagram.
(c) Reading and using statement of scale, graphic scale and scale shown by representative fraction method. (No drawing work, only explaining their meanings).
(d) Reading of one town guide map or an atlas map. (Recognising the symbols and colours used, identifying directions and distances).
(e) Drawing and recognising forms of important contours viz. valleys, ridges, types of slopes, conical hill, plateau, escarpment and sea cliff.
(f) Drawing at least one sketch map to organize information about visiting an important place, a zoo or a monument.
2. Candidates will be required to prepare a project report on any one topic. The topics for assignments may be selected from the list of suggested assignments given below. Candidates can also take up an assignment of their choice under any of the four broad areas given below. (The project will be evaluated out of 10 marks).
Suggested list of Assignments:
(a) Weather records: Maintaining and interpreting weather records as found in the newspaper for at least one season.
(b) Collection of data from secondary sources: {Using Modern techniques i.e., Global Positioning System (GPS), Remote Sensing, Aerial Photography and Satellite imageries}: Preparing a Power Point presentation on current issues like – use of earth resources/ development activities/dangers of development and ecological disasters like droughts, earthquakes, volcanoes, floods, landslides cyclones and tornadoes in the world.
(c) Physical Features: Collection of data from primary and secondary sources or taking photographs and preparing notional sketches of features found in the vicinity or areas visited during the year as a part of school activity.
(d) Find out the sources of pollution of water bodies in the locality and determine the quality of water.
(e) Collect information on global environmental issues and problems and communicate your findings through appropriate modes (posters, charts, collages, cartoons, handouts, essays, street plays and Power Point presentation).
(f) Area Studies: Choosing any aspect from World Studies and preparing a Power Point presentation or a write up on it.
(g) Meteorological Instruments and their uses: Six’s maximum and minimum thermometer, mercury barometer, aneroid barometer, wind vane, anemometer, rain gauge and hygrometer.

Conditions of eligibility for admission to Class IX
1. Candidates who have been awarded Pass Certificates in the ICSE Class VIII examination are eligible to be admitted to the Indian Certificate of Secondary Education examination.
2. Candidates may be entered only by the school they are attending and in this respect, the decision of the Head of the School is final.
3. There is no age limit for candidates taking the examination.
4. Candidates whose attendance is below 75% of the working days are ordinarily not eligible to sit for the examination. However, the Chief Executive and Secretary has the authority to condone the shortage of attendance in the case of candidates whose minimum attendance is not less than 60% of the working days in each year of the two-year course. This is inclusive of absence due to illness and other special circumstances. Heads of Schools may represent, to the Chief Executive and Secretary, cases of candidates who deserve special consideration for condonation of shortage of attendance in Class IX and X, provided that the attendance of such candidates is not less than 60% of the working days, during each year of the two-year course.

2. The question paper will consist of Part I and Part II.

4. Part II Candidates will be required to choose any five questions.

IMPORTANT INSTRUCTIONS

2. The Indian School Certificate Year 2025 Examination results will be declared in the month of May 2025.
3. The results will be made available on the official website of the CISCE.
4. For ICSE, the marks of the Practical/Project work Of the subject, already awarded to the candidate in the main examination, Will be carried forward. However, if the candidate was absent earlier either in Practical or during assessment of Project Work of the subject, then, the candidate, in addition to taking the Theory examination, is permitted to submit the Project Work and/or for Practical. which should then be assessed, and marks awarded and submitted.
5. CISCE will not retain answer scripts of the candidates later than 60 days from the day of the declaration of results. The same shall be destroyed thereafter.
6. All candidates who appear for the ICSE Main Examination, are eligible to take the Improvement Examination' conducted in the same year of Examination.

ICSE CLASS 10 PRACTICAL EXAM HIGHLIGHTS
Students can go through the important points related to the ICSE Class 10 practical exam 2025 given below:
1. The maximum marks allotted for the ICSE Class 10 practical exam 2025 will vary depending on the subjects. For a few subjects, the total marks are 30, and for others, it is 20 marks.
2. Students will have to obtain a minimum of 40% marks in every subject to pass the ICSE class 10 exam 2025.
3. It is not necessary to pass separately in the theory and practical exams in ICSE as it is a cumulative score of the theory and practical exams.
4. The final dates for the practical exam for a subject will be decided after the consultation of a visiting examiner with the school head and the supervising examiner.
5. For ICSE, the marks of the Practical/Project work Of the subject, already awarded to the candidate in the main examination, Will be carried forward. However, if the candidate was absent earlier either in Practical or during assessment of Project Work of the subject, then, the candidate, in addition to taking the Theory examination, is permitted to submit the Project Work and/or for Practical. which should then be assessed, and marks awarded and submitted.

IMPROVEMENT EXAMINATION
Candidates who wish to improve their marks / grade in the same year of the Examination, may take the Improvement Examination.
1. Eligibility to appear for the ICSE (Class X) Improvement Examination:
a. All candidates who appear for the ICSE Main Examination, are eligible to take the Improvement Examination' conducted in the same year of Examination.
This will include candidates with any one of the following Results:
(i) PCA - Pass Certificate Awarded
(ii) PCNA - Pass Certificate Not Awarded
(iii) SPCA - Supplementary Pass Certificate Awarded
(iv) SPCNA - Supplementary Pass Cenificate Not Awarded
The candidates whose result is declared as ABSENT will not be eligible for the Improvement Examination.
2. Number of Subjects permitted:
The candidates will be permitted to appear in a maximum of any TWO subjects that they would have enrolled themselves for, in the given year of Examination, for the Main Examination.
i. Papers to appear in: The candidates appearing for a particular subject in the Improvement Examination are required to compulsorily appear for the Theory Paper of the subject.
ii. Practical/Project work: For ICSE, the marks of the Practical/Project work Of the subject, already awarded to the candidate in the main examination, Will be carried forward. However, if the candidate was absent earlier either in Practical or during assessment of Project Work of the subject, then, the candidate, in addition to taking the Theory examination, is permitted to submit the Project Work and/or for Practical. which should then be assessed, and marks awarded and submitted.
3. Registration of candidates for Improvement Examination:
