Scholarship General Information 

SOAS, University of London invites applications for Bishwa Bangla Scholarships at SOAS, UK from graduate students of West Bengal. This scholarship aims to support the study of ordinary residents in the State of West Bengal, India. Selected students will get a scholarship worth GBP 39,540.

Eligibility Criteria 

1. Must be ordinarily resident in West Bengal, India.

2. Must be eligible to pay fees at the overseas rate.

3. Applicants must have an offer of admission to the full-time MA South Asian Area Studies by the scholarship application deadline.

4. Please note that most scholarships do not cover funding or even allow for Pre-sessionals. Please check the wording of your scholarship offer carefully to see if you are eligible for a Pre-sessional course or whether you need to achieve SOAS direct entry scores by the deadline specified in your scholarship terms and conditions.

5. The scholarship cannot be held along with any other major scholarship or studentship.

Award Amount  

The total value of the Bishwa Bangla scholarship is £39,540 (40,57,385 Rupees). The Master's scholarships are for one year only.

a. The scholarship cannot be held along with any other major scholarship or studentship.

b. Successful candidates will be notified by the end of June. If an applicant has not heard from the university by the end of June, he/she should assume that his/her application was unsuccessful.

c. It is recommended to apply for the program about six weeks before the scholarship deadline.

Step 3: Upload the required documents.
Step 4: Submit the application.

Selection Process 

​​​​​​​1. Candidates will be assessed on academic merit by an Advisory Panel consisting of at least three academic members.

2. The assessment of your application will be based on the information provided in your scholarship application and in your on-line admission application for admission. Selectors will be looking at the degree results and also at academic references, statement and other relevant information.​​​​​​​
