Scholarship General Information
We have started the HONDA Y-E-S Award program for fostering future leaders in the field of science and technology. Following the startup of the award program in Vietnam in 2006, in India in 2007, in Laos and Cambodia in 2008, in Myanmar in 2014, it was introduced in Bangladesh in 2019 to support the development and promotion of young leaders to spearhead the growth of these countries in the future.
This system grants awards to students who have excelled in the area of science and technology and who continue to aspire to higher academic achievement. However, it is distinctive in that it is not restricted to tuition but may be used for a broad range of activities. Furthermore, the grant is awarded in two stages. Another very unique characteristic of the system is that its details are matched to the receiving country’s needs and circumstances; it is set up to be flexible to each country’s needs.
The program hopes to promote dissemination of eco technology among the young generations and at the same time to strengthen interaction and exchange between Japanese youths and young people expect to lead science, technology and industry in their respective countries.
Perspectives for the selection of countries-
1. Countries in the course of industrial development with strong expectations expressed by the country.
2. Strong need to disseminate the ecotechnology perspective among students.
3. Possibilities for human exchange and development with the Japanese academic and industrial sectors.

Eligibility Criteria
1. Candidate should be a student of Indian Institute of Technology, registered in a four year B.Tech or five year dual degree (M.Tech.) Programme.
2. This program is being offered to students of IIT Bombay, IIT Kanpur, IIT Kharagpur, IIT Madras, IIT Delhi & IIT Roorkee only.
3. Candidate must be a student of 5th semester having CGPA of 7.00 & above in each respective four semesters.
Award Amount
Stage One: Y-E-S Award-
We award fourteen best undergraduate students selected from the affiliated universities and colleges in India with a prize grant worth USD 3, 000 (INR 2, 51, 847).
Stage Two: Y-E-S Award Plus-
All Y-E-S Award awardees become eligible for the Y-E-S Award Plus, a non-restricted scholarship fund if, within four years after they received the Y-E-S Award, they are admitted to either of the following:
1. A master’s or doctoral course at a Japanese graduate school under the auspices (sponsorship) of the Japanese government. These students will receive USD 10, 000 (INR 8, 39, 492) as the Y-E-S Award Plus.
2. Internship program offered by a Japanese university, research institute, or company—a program between over ten weeks. These students will receive USD 7, 000 (INR 5, 87, 641) as the Y-E-S Award Plus.
Additionally, if they come to Japan again after the internship for a master's or doctoral course, they will receive a preparation fee USD 3, 000 (INR 2, 51, 847) as the Y-E-S Award Plus Expansion.

Application Fee
No Separate Application or Fee is Required to get the scholarship, it will be automatically considered, once you enrolled for the program.
Application Procedure
Eligible candidates from affiliated Indian Institutes of Technology can apply online through the Honda Y-E-S Award website (https://www.hondafoundation.jp).
The following documents are to be attached with the online application form of Honda Y-E-S Award:
1. For attachments of documents - All the documents have to be uploaded in the PDF formats only apart from your passport size photograph.
2. Transcript with CGPA for all four semesters or Individual CGPA marksheet for all 4 semesters.
3. On the spot essay to be given this time at the respective IITs.
4. Certificates of distinguished awards or prizes received.
Selection Process
1. Y-E-S Administration Office (YAO) collects all applications.
2. Y-E-S Award Selection Committee (ASC) scores applications and essays.
3. ASC interviews shortlisted candidates.
4. The Japanese HOF Grant Committee (HCG) examines the finalist list and decides awardees.
Other Info
Condition for Y-E-S Award Plus-
1. There will be no separate selection process for the Y-E-S Award Plus. Any Y-E-S Award recipient who meets the conditions above may request this award, and their requests are received and confirmed by the YAO, and then approved by the Honda Foundation Y-E-S Office (“HOF Y-E-S Office”) in Tokyo.
2. The Y-E-S Award Plus is not an independent program, but a constituent part of the Honda Y-E-S Award program.
