Scholarship General Information 

Maths Talent Search Examination (MTSE) is an online mathematics examination conducted by the Indian Institute for Studies in Mathematics (IISMA). Students from any educational board from class 3 to class 9 can apply for the examination.  However, the students can only appear for the class he/she is studying. The MTSE Scholarship examination tests the understanding of mathematical concepts and helps students to prepare for competitive examinations. The examination focuses on mathematical reasoning, mental ability, concepts, accuracy, and speed. The examination can be conducted in English or Marathi.

Eligibility Criteria 

The MTSE Scholarship examination is conducted by IISMA for students from class 3 to class 9. However, to appear for the examination students must meet the eligibility requirements. Only the students who meet the eligibility criteria can appear for the MTSE Scholarship examination. Below are the main eligibility criteria for the MTSE examination.

1. A student studying in class  III, IV, V, VI, VII, VIII,  or IX from any recognised educational board.

2. Moreover, the student must appear only for the class that he/she is studying.

Award Amount  

1. The students scoring either above 40 marks or the Benchmark Score, whichever is higher, are declared as successful.

2. The Benchmark score is the average score of all the students for that class.

3. The top 50 successful students from each class are awarded a Certificate of Merit and prizes worth more than Rs. 1.69 lacs as under.

4. A Certificate of Participation is awarded to all other students writing the examination.

Application Procedure 

The MTSE examination application is solely made online. The MTSE examination application process is as follows.

1. Visit the IISMA official website, and click on the link ‘MTSE registration’.

2. Next, enter the details required such as name, contact information, email address, and more.

2. After the successful registration, candidates receive a username and password to log in.

3. Use the login information to log in to the account and fill out the application form 

4. Upload the necessary documents such as photographs, and signatures.

5. Pay the registration fees, and make the payment online using the payment gateway

6. After completing the application form, click on submit and take a printout of the same for future reference.

Selection Process 

1. The MTSE will be a cloud based ONLINE test.

2. The paper will consist of 35 multiple choice objective questions.

3. These questions will have to be answered in 60 minutes on an A-I based Online Test platform from home with a webcam enabled device.

4. The system will not allow a student to log in unless and until the webcam is enabled.

5. The system will continuously catch, record and process the facial movements, eyes movements, lips movements, objects movements, whispering of sound, etc. and flag the irregularities through data forensics. During an exam, if the webcam is disabled, then the system may debar the student from writing the exam further.

6. Each correct answer will be awarded with 2 marks. There will not be any NEGATIVE marking for wrong answers.
