Scholarship General Information 

HDFC Bank believes that the benefits of economic growth need to flow to all sections of society. Although not a panacea, education would be one of the main interventions that would lead to the overall economic and social development of the society. To empower individuals who are economically and socially disadvantaged, the bank has initiated various projects in the field of education and livelihood training. 'Educational Crisis Scholarship Support' (ECSS) programme is envisaged to provide interim support for children facing a personal/economic exigency.

ECSS aims to cover students from recognized Private or Government schools between standards 6 and 12 and students studying in undergraduate and postgraduate courses (full-time/part-time degree/diploma/ courses) who due to personal/family crises are unable to continue bearing the cost of education and are at risk of dropping out of school/college/university.

Eligibility Criteria 

1. The ECSS applicant should be a resident of India.

2. For school students - He/she should be studying in a recognized private and/or Govt. aided schools between 6 to 12 Standards.

3. For college/university students - He/she should be studying in a AITCE/UGC recognized private/Government/Government aided college/university pursuing full-time/part-time degree/diploma/vocational training courses.

4. The annual family income from all sources should not exceed Rs. 3,00,000/- (Rupees three lakhs only).

5. Only one application per family will be considered for the scholarship. Since the programme is conceived to provide support in a transitional period during a crisis, it is envisaged that the scholarship to any student will be renewable on an annual basis and 'ECSS' Scholars would be required to reapply and re-qualify each year.

6. The regulations can be changed at any time at the discretion of the Management of HDFC Bank.

7. The scholarship fund is non-transferable. In case a student receives the scholarship support in a particular school/college/university and changes the school/college/university, the fund support cannot automatically get transferred to the new school/college/university. In such cases the student needs to re-apply for the scholarship support.

Award Amount  

The Scholarship will cover the total annual School Fee up to a maximum of Rs. 10,000/- and College/University Fee up to a maximum of Rs. 25,000/- of the selected candidates.

Step 2: Log in with your registered ID and land on the ‘Application Form Page’.

Step 3: You will now be redirected to the HDFC ECSS Programme' application form page.

Step 4: Click on the ‘Start Application’ button to begin the application process.

Step 5: Fill in the required details in the online application form.

Step 6: Upload relevant documents.

Step 7: Accept the ‘Terms and Conditions’ and click on ‘Preview’. 

Step 8: If all the details filled in by the applicant are correctly showing on the preview screen, click on the ‘Submit’ button to complete the application process.


Required Documents:

1. Passport-size photograph.

2. Previous year's mark sheets.

3. Identity proof (Aadhaar Card/Voter ID/Driving License).

4. Current year admission proof (Fee Receipt/Admission Letter/Institution ID Card/Bonafide Certificate).

5. Applicant's Bank Passbook/Cancelled Cheque (Information will also be captured in the application form).

6. Income Proof (any one of the following):

a. Income Proof issued by Gram Panchayat/Ward Counsellor/Sarpanch.

b. Income Proof issued by SDM/DM/CO/Tehsildar.

c. Affidavit.

d. Proof of family/personal crisis (if applicable).

Selection Process 

1. Received applications will be assessed on the basis of the criteria defined by HDFC Bank’s management.

2. Students will be selected basis the score that they receive on the selection parameters. While every effort will be made to ensure a fair screening, the management reserves the right to decide the final recipients.

Disbursement of Scholarship

The sanctioned amount will be sent by Demand Draft directly to the school/college/university.

Renewal of Scholarship

ECSS is an annual scholarship and will be renewable on an annual basis for a maximum of two years.
