HDFC Bank announced the launch of the Covid Crisis Support Scholarship for students who have been impacted by COVID-19. The scholarship is part of Parivartan, HDFC Bank’s umbrella for its social responsibility.
The scholarship program is meant for school students as well as those pursuing UG, PG, and diploma courses. Under this scholarship scheme, students will be provided with one-time financial assistance ranging from Rs 15,000 to Rs 75,000.

Eligibility Criteria
1. Indian students who are currently studying in Classes 1 to 12 and diploma, undergraduate, or postgraduate (General and Professional) programs are eligible.
2. Students who have been through any of the below two crises –
a. Loss of either or both parent(s)/earning member(s) since January 2020.
b. Loss of an earning family member’s employment (or livelihood) during the pandemic.
3. Annual family income must be less than or equal to Rs. 6,00,000 (6 lakh) from all sources.
4. Children of employees of HDFC Bank are not eligible.
Award Amount
Total corpus of Rs 9 crore to support 3200 students up to PG level One-time scholarship amount of up to Rs 75,000.

The bank has created a corpus of Rs 9 crore for the Covid Crisis Support Scholarship. The Covid Crisis Support Scholarship will help around 3,200 students under two categories:
1. School (from class 1 to 12) covering around 1,800 students.
2. College (diploma, graduation & PG courses) covering around 1,400 students.

Selection Process
The selection process of the HDFC Bank COVID Crisis Support Scholarship Program is a multi-stage process where students are selected based on the crisis faced by them due to COVID-19. Details of the selection process are mentioned below:
1. Shortlisting of candidates based on proof of crisis and other eligibility criteria.
2. Document verification of all applicants.
3. Telephonic interaction.

3. Identity proof (Aadhaar Card/Voter ID/Driving License).
4. Current year admission proof (Fee Receipt/Admission Letter/Institution ID Card/Bonafide Certificate).
5. Applicant's Bank Passbook/Cancelled Cheque (Information will also be captured in the application form).
6. Income Proof (any one of the following):
a. Income Proof issued by Gram Panchayat/Ward Counsellor/Sarpanch.
b. Income Proof issued by SDM/DM/CO/Tehsildar.
c. Affidavit.
d. Proof of family/personal crisis (if applicable).
