Scholarship General Information 

HDFC Badhte Kadam Scholarship aims to provide financial assistance to help high-performing students from underprivileged backgrounds to continue and complete their education, including those whose families are going through any kind of crisis. In addition, in due course, the program will also offer selected candidates additional support which could include mentorship and access to career counseling programs. The scholarship fund is exclusively meant to meet the academic expenses of the selected candidates which include tuition fees, hostel fees, learning devices or aids, books, stationery, etc.

Eligibility Criteria 

For Class 9 to 12 Students:-

1. Applicants must be studying in Class 9 - 12 in recognized schools across India.

2. Annual family income of the applicant must not be greater than INR 6,00,000 (6 lakh), from all sources.

3. Special consideration for students

a. Who have lost their parent(s)/ earning family member(s) in the pandemic or before the pandemic.

b. Whose families have lost their livelihood due to the pandemic?

c. Who was affected by any natural disaster?

d. Who has a patient in the family with a critical illness (Father/Mother/Sibling)?

e. Who are physically disabled.

4. Children of employees of HDFC are not eligible.

5. Open for Indian nationals only.


For General Graduation Students

1. Open for students who have passed Class 12 and who are currently pursuing general graduation courses (any year) such as BCom, BSc, BA, etc. in recognized colleges or universities in India. 

2. Applicants must have obtained at least 60% marks in the previous class or board exams. 

3. Annual family income of the applicants should be below INR 6,00,000, from all sources.

3. Special consideration will be given to -.

a. Girl students.

b. Students who are going through any kind of crisis (lost a parent/both parents, terminal illness in family, etc.)

4. Children of employees of HDFC are not eligible.

5. Students from India are eligible.


For Professional Graduation Students

1. Open for students who have passed Class 12 and who are currently pursuing professional graduation courses (any year) such as BTech, MBBS, B.Arch, Nursing, BA-LLB, Fashion, BBA, BCA, etc. in recognized colleges or universities in India. 

2. Applicants must have obtained at least 60% marks in the previous class or board exams. 

3. Annual family income of the applicants should be below INR 6,00,000, from all sources.

4. Special consideration will be given to -.

a. Girl students.

b. Students who are going through any kind of crisis (lost a parent/both parents, terminal illness in the family, etc.)

5. Children of employees of HDFC are not eligible.

6. Students from India are eligible.


For Students with Disabilities

1. Open for students with disabilities having disability level more than 40% and a valid disability certificate

2. Applicants must have obtained at least 50% marks in the previous class or board exams. 

3. Open for students studying in grades 11, and 12 or pursuing Graduation, Diploma/ITI, or any certified vocational course in a recognized school or college in India.

4. Annual family income of the applicants should be below INR 8,00,000, from all sources.

5. Special consideration will be given to -.

a. Girl students.

b. Students who are going through any kind of crisis (lost a parent/both parents, terminal illness in the family, etc.)

6. Children of employees of HDFC are not eligible.

7. Students from India are eligible.


For Competitive Exams Coaching

1. Open for students who are pursuing studies in/have completed Class 11 & 12 and aspire to study in NIRF top-ranked engineering, medical or law colleges in India.

2. Applicants must be preparing for competitive examinations such as NEET, JEE, CLAT, and NIFT at a recognized coaching institution.

3. Applicants must have obtained at least 80% marks in the previous class or board exams.

4. Annual family income of the applicants should be below INR 6,00,000, from all sources.

5. Special consideration will be given to -.

a. Girl students.

b. Students who are going through any kind of crisis (lost a parent/both parents, terminal illness in the family, etc.)

6. Children of employees of HDFC are not eligible.

Selection Process 

The selection of scholars for HDFC Ltd’s Badhte Kadam Scholarship is a multi-stage process where students are selected on the basis of their need with a special focus on students affected due to the pandemic. 

1. Shortlisting of candidates based on proof of crisis and other eligibility criteria.

2. Telephonic interaction with the shortlisted candidates followed by document verification.

3. Final selection by the scholarship provider.
