Scholarship General Information 

Under the CSR initiative on Education and Livelihood by Kotak Mahindra Group Companies, Kotak Education Foundation invites applications for the Kotak Junior Scholarship Program from Class 10 pass-out students of the Mumbai Metropolitan Region (MMR) who have secured admission in Class 11 for the current academic year.

Eligibility Criteria 

Applicants should score overall 85% or above in their Class 10 Board Examination (SSC/CBSE/ICSE).

They must have secured admission in Class 11 at junior colleges/schools for Arts, Commerce or Science streams in the Mumbai Metropolitan Region (MMR).

The annual family income of applicants must be INR 3,20,000 or below.

Students’ current residence should be within the Mumbai Metropolitan Region (MMR).

Children of employees of Kotak Education Foundation are ineligible to apply for the Kotak Junior Scholarship.

Note: MMR regions include Mumbai Suburban & Mumbai City, Thane District-Thane, Kalyan, Dombivli, Ulhasnagar, Bhiwandi, Ambernath, Badlapur, Murbad, Shahapur, Vasai, Virar, Palghar, Raigad District -Panvel, Uran, Karjat, Khalapur, Pen, Alibag, Mira Bhayandar & Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation Areas.

Award Amount  

Scholarship of INR 3,500  per month during Class 11 and Class 12, totalling INR 73,500 for 21 months, along with mentorship support, academic assistance, career guidance, and exposure visits.

No. of Scholarships Available 

a. For the 2024–25 session, the Kotak Education Foundation announced 1,000 scholarships for students who passed Class 10 from the Mumbai Metropolitan Region.

b. For the 2025–26 session as well, KEF has confirmed that 1,000 meritorious students will be awarded this scholarship.

Application Procedure 

Visit the Kotak Education Foundation website.

Login/Register on the portal.

Fill out the online application form and upload the required documents.

Accept the terms and conditions, preview the form, and then submit it.

Make sure to complete the application before the deadline.

Selection Process 

Initial Shortlisting

Candidates are initially shortlisted based on their Class 10 Board Examination scores (≥85%) and economic background (annual family income ≤ ₹3.20 lakh).

Document Verification

Shortlisted candidates are required to upload essential documents such as Class 10 marksheet, income certificate, Aadhaar card, ration card, school leaving certificate, and bank details.

Telephonic Interview

After document verification, shortlisted students undergo a telephonic interview, which helps assess the candidate's motivation, family situation, and future goals.

Final Selection

The final selection is made by the Kotak Education Foundation's selection committee. At this stage, the decision of the Foundation is final. Selection is based on a merit-cum-means ranking system.

Provisional Offer and Notification to Selected Students

Selected candidates receive a provisional scholarship offer letter, and the scholarship amount is subsequently transferred to their bank accounts.

Kotak Junior Scholarship Program is an initiative of Kotak Education Foundation (KEF), the CSR implementing agency of Kotak Mahindra Group. This transformative scholarship program has been designed to provide invaluable financial assistance and support to deserving students who have successfully completed their 10th Grade from SSC/CBSE/ICSE boards within the Mumbai Metropolitan Region (MMR).

Selected students will receive a scholarship of INR 3,500 per month throughout Class 11 and Class 12, totalling INR 73,500 for 21 months.
