Scholarship General Information 

The animal protection movement in India requires trained professionals who can become animal protection leaders across states and districts. Embrace a unique opportunity to champion for meaningful change for animals!

The Ahimsa Fellowship programme aims at creating a network of effective animal protection leaders adept at working closely with state governments and district administrations to enforce animal protection laws in India.

There is an urgent need of trained professionals who can capably assist the Government in fulfilling its statutory duties through systemic apparatuses like State Animal Welfare Boards, Societies For The Prevention of Cruelty to Animals, Infirmaries, Slaughterhouse Monitoring Committees, Animal Birth Control Monitoring Committees etc.

Ahimsa Fellows will be intensively trained to understand in-depth the existing legal and policy regime. They will also be encouraged and supported to take up advocacy efforts that complement their skill set and interests across the broad field of Animal Protection.

We invite applications from passionate individuals who are motivated about contributing to the animal welfare/animal rights movement in India.

Eligibility Criteria 

be an Indian citizen

hold a bachelor's degree in any discipline from a recognised institution/university/college

be between 21 to 39 years of age 

possess strong communication skills in English and a regional language

be available to attend the 8-month duration of the fellowship programme

Award Amount  

For the first 2 months out of the 8 months, fellows will be credited a stipend of Rs. 10,000 per month. Post that, they will received a stipend of Rs. 20,000 per month. The stipend amount is meant to cover cost of executing assignments. Travel and accommodation for the residential contact classes will be covered by Team Ahimsa Fellowship and is NOT to be borne my the candidate. Any rare out of pocket expenses not included in the stipend are reimbursed on a case-by-case basis.

Application Procedure 

Step 1: Click on the 'Apply Now' button.
Step 2: Click the 'Register' button and fill in the required registration details. (Note:- If already registered, log in using Gmail/Mobile number/Email ID)
Step 3: Navigate to the 'Apply Now' button and click on it.
Step 4: Click on the 'Applicant/Fellow Sign-Up' tab. 
Step 5: Fill in the required details, upload the photograph and submit.
Step 6: Once registered, click on the 'Applicant/Fellow Login' tab.
Step 7: Enter Username, password and login. 
Step 8: Fill in the application form consisting of 5 sub-sections (including personal details). 
Step 9: Once the applicant has completed filling out the entire form, lock your form and submit it.

Selection Process 

Stage 1 - Evaluation of the online application form.

Stage 2 - Applicants who have cleared stage 1 will be invited for a virtual interview. 

Stage 3 - Online assessment will be provided to candidates who clear the interview.

Stage 4 - Candidates who have performed well in the assessment will proceed to the panel interview

For the first two months of the 8-month program, fellows will receive a stipend of ₹10,000 per month. Thereafter, a monthly stipend of ₹20,000.

The stipend is designed to cover expenses related to completing program assignments.
