SELECTION PROCESS
UPSSSC PET is only a qualifying/screening exam. It is not the final recruitment exam. Qualifying PET simply makes you eligible to apply for various Group B and Group C posts (such as Lekhpal, Junior Assistant, X-Ray Technician, Forest Guard, etc.) whenever UPSSSC releases separate recruitment notifications.
Here is the complete step-by-step selection process:
PET Written Exam (Stage 1) This is a single offline OMR-based exam with 100 multiple-choice questions for 100 marks. Duration is 2 hours. There is negative marking of 1/4 mark for every wrong answer. It is purely qualifying in nature (category-wise cut-offs apply). Once you qualify, your PET score remains valid for 3 years.
Main Examination (Stage 2) After qualifying PET, you can apply for specific posts when notifications are released. The Main exam is conducted separately for each recruitment. Its pattern, syllabus, and marks depend entirely on the post you apply for.
Interview or Skill Test (Stage 3 – only if applicable) For certain posts, an Interview or Skill Test is held after the Main exam.
Document Verification & Medical Test (Final Stage) Original documents are verified, and a medical examination is conducted wherever required. This is the last step before final selection.
Key Points to Remember
PET qualification is mandatory for almost all UPSSSC Group B & C recruitments.
After qualifying, you receive a PET Score Card valid for 3 years.
Separate notifications are issued for each post (e.g., Lekhpal 2026, Stenographer, etc.). Only PET-qualified candidates can apply for those.
The final merit for any post is prepared on the basis of the Main Exam + Interview (if any), not on the PET score.
