UP POLICE SI 2021-22 EXAMINATION TIPS & TRICKS
1. Understand syllabus: This is the first step that must be followed for your exam preparation journey. Any competitive examination has a defined syllabus and the previous year papers to refer to for exam pattern and difficulty level. First, go through the notification of any exam and then go through the past year's papers so that you can get to know what you are getting into.
2. Create a study timetable: It will allow you to dedicate fixed hours to your exam preparation every day. Hence, it will reduce the last-minute exam-related stress and pressure. It is essential to manage your time wisely and smartly to achieve success. Dedicate fixed time to study, recreation, and your other daily activities to avoid distractions. Try to optimise your time, make the most out of it. While creating a timetable, keep it personalised and tailored to your lifestyle and study methods. It is best if you create the timetable well in advance. This will help you settle in and organise your daily and weekly study targets and leave you enough time to revise for assessments and exams.
3. Refer to right study material: You must focus on quality rather than quantity. Put your concentration on one book rather than covering all the books at once. Try to cover the books recommended by the Board first and then move to other books for further references. These recommended books will clarify various concepts for you. It is important for the candidates to understand that competitive exams are knowledge application tests. Go through the solutions of previous year papers to understand the most effective ways of answering the questions.
4. Attempt as many mock tests as possible: We has provided several mock tests focused on different sections of the UP Police Sub-Inspector Exam papers. Take these tests and ensure that your preparation is on point. Along with the mock tests, practising previous year sample papers would be highly helpful. This will help you to get familiar with the exam pattern and instill a habit of completing the paper in the time frame provided.
5. Take revision seriously: Revision is the most crucial step in your entire preparation journey. It is impossible to remember everything that’s studied only once. Multiple revision is effective for retention as well as application. With a vast syllabus to cover, it is acceptable that candidates start forgetting the earlier studied concepts while trying to learn more concepts. Hence revision should be done at regular intervals.
6. Read newspapers every day: General awareness section is a part of almost every exam, especially UPSC, SSC, SSC CGL, SSC MTS, Banking exams etc. If your concepts are clear, you may score well in every section of these competitive exams with the last-minute preparations but not the general awareness. To score well in this section you necessarily have to be aware of social, cultural, financial, economic and regional news and updates all across the globe. Start reading at least one newspaper every day to stay updated with current affairs.
7. Make notes: It is not the process of understanding a topic that is the tough part; it is the remembering. Hence, it is essential to note important issues and glance through them whenever you wish to revise a topic. Well-organized and to the point notes save you the trouble of revisiting the voluminous study material. While learning a topic, try to make notes for better understanding and easy revisions. Writing down points helps you to remember them for a longer time. Note that while you are writing, you're also paying attention and thinking about the topic you are learning, which helps your mind engage more actively with the information and thus store it better.

SELECTION PROCESS
The selection process for UP Police Sub-Inspector (SI) is designed to ensure that candidates are assessed comprehensively on both academic knowledge and physical capabilities. It begins with an offline written examination (pen and paper), which evaluates candidates on subjects such as General Knowledge, General Hindi, Numerical and Mental Ability, and Reasoning. Candidates who qualify in the written test are then required to appear for the Physical Standard Test (PST), which measures height, chest, and weight to ensure they meet the physical eligibility criteria for the role.
Following the PST, candidates undergo the Physical Efficiency Test (PET), which includes running and other physical tasks to assess their fitness and stamina. Only those who successfully meet the standards in the PET proceed to the Document Verification stage, where certificates, educational qualifications, and other required documents are thoroughly checked for authenticity. This multi-stage process ensures that only candidates with the right combination of knowledge, physical fitness, and verified credentials are selected for the post of Sub-Inspector in Uttar Pradesh Police.
