EXAM PATTERN:

Staff Selection Commission (SSC) conducts the Stenographer Examination in two Tiers i.e Tier I and Tier II. While SSC Stenographer Tier I is conducted in Online Mode, on the other hand, Tier II is  Stenography Skill Test. Tier- I of the SSC Stenographer Examination will be held as a Computer Based Examination consisting of three sections which are of Objective Type, Multiple choice questions. It will consist of a total of 200 Questions of 200 Marks (1 Mark for each question). Total duration of the examination is 120 minutes and 40 minutes extra with people with benchmark disabilities. 

The section-wise distribution of the number of questions and marks are indicated below:

Note- The exam is not separately timed for each section. Candidates who clear the SSC Stenographer CBT (Stage 1) will be called for Skill Test.

SSC Stenographer Examination will be held as a Computer Based Examination and will contain only Objective Type, Multiple choice based questions.

Medium Of Examination:

1. The Questions from General Intelligence & Reasoning, General Awareness &  will be available both in English & Hindi Languages.

2. The Questions from English Language & Comprehension will be available only in English.

Marking Scheme:

1. For each correct answer, 1 Mark will be awarded.

2. There will be a negative marking of 0.25 Marks for each wrong answer.

3. No marks will be deducted for the Unattempted Questions.

4. Based on the marks scored in Tier- I, candidates will be shortlisted, category-wise, to appear in Tier- II Examination.

Normalization of Marks:

The Staff Selection Commission has already decided to normalize the scores of candidates for the examinations which are conducted in multi-shifts to take into account any variation in the difficulty levels of the question papers across different shifts.

ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA:

Candidates willing to apply for SSC Stenographer Examination are required to fulfill certain conditions to be eligible for it. The candidate who does not satisfy the Eligibility criteria like Age, Minimum Educational Qualification, etc., their candidature shall be rejected by the authorities. The criteria for eligibility SSC are decided by the conduction body itself.

The candidate’s eligibility for SSC Stenographer Examination is based on the fulfillment of the following conditions:

Nationality.

Age Limit & Relaxations.

Educational Qualifications.

Medical Standards.

Nationality:

A candidate must be either:

A Citizen of India, or, 

A subject of Nepal, or, 

A subject of Bhutan, or,

Provided that a candidate belonging to categories (2), (3), (4), and (5) above shall be a person in whose favour a certificate of eligibility has been issued by the Government of India.

Note: A candidate in whose case a certificate of eligibility is necessary may be admitted to the Examination but the offer of appointment will be given only after the necessary eligibility certificate has been issued to him by the Government of India.

3. Identify the segment in the sentence which contains the grammatical errors. Our soldiers fought as fiercely that the enemy had to accept defeat.

4. Identify the segment in thence which contains the grammatical errors. When did you came back from your holiday in Mauritius.

5. Select the most appropriate option to substitute the underlined segment in the given sentence. There is no need to substitute it, select 'NO SUBSTITUTION'. There is the city wherever I were born twenty years ago.

General Intelligence:

In SSC Stenographer Exam 2020, there were 50 questions asked in the General Intelligence and Reasoning sections which were of Easy to Moderate level. Very few questions were of Medium to Hard level. Topics that were covered in general intelligence and Reasoning were a calendar, missing numbers in patterns, paper folding, series, missing pattern, sitting arrangement, coding and decoding, mirror images, judgment - based, Venn diagram  and analysis - based.

Questions asked from the General Intelligence and Reasoning Section:

2. Four letter -clusters have been given, out of which three are alike in some manner and one is different. Select the odd letter cluster.

General Awareness:

The questions from General Awareness were mostly mixed and covered many general awareness sections. Current Affairs and other sections covered an average of 7-8 questions. In the science section, if you have good basic knowledge, then you can easily score good marks in GA Section.

Overall Analysis of Shift- 1 Paper:

Analysis for  22nd December 2020 (shift- 2):

English Comprehension:

In the second shift of the same-day paper of English, the most asked questions were from Direct-Indirect / Active - Passive, Error section, Antonym Synonyms, other questions that were asked were fill - ups, idioms & jumbled sentences. Overall the paper was not Difficult and was easy to moderate difficulty.

Questions asked from English Sections:

1. The themes of the reading comprehension were:

a) A comprehension based on the theme- " Smile -the unknown power".

b) A comprehension based on the theme - " The dolphins of Ganga"

c) A comprehension based on the theme- " Indianness-our cultural diversity"

General Intelligence:
